"Died in South Bend, Indiana, October 6th., EDDY son of Clement and Charity Studebaker, aged one year 4 months and 8 days."

Eddy's obituary in The Gospel Visitor included the following poem by Rev. George Witwer, husband of Clement's sister Elizabeth.

"Little Eddy, is no more,
For his pilgrimage is o'er;
Glory, glory, is his theme,
With the saints in high esteam, [sic]
+++++++++++++++++++
Little Eddy you shall see,
Parents, if you holy be,- --
In the realms of glory meet,
And your little Eddy greet.
------------[Rev.] G[eorge] W[itwer]"

It's likely that the first-born son of Clement and 1st wife Charity was named for Dr. Norman B. Eddy, district school examiner and Studebaker family friend. [Note: Norman Eddy, b. 10 Dec 1810 Scipio, New York, d. 28 Jan 1872 Indianapolis, Indiana was a respected American physician, politician and military officer.]
