MISS PRUDENCE MUDD IS DEAD
Death Came in Quincy Tuesday and Burial Was Here Today.
Miss Prudence Mudd died about 6 o'clock Tuesday morning at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, where she had been the last ten days. She had not been entirely well for five or six years and had been ill in St. Vincent's Home about a year, being taken to the hospital when she became too ill to e cared for at the Home. she was 60 years old.
Following death the body was brought to the Kelly Funeral Home in Edina, where it lay in state. Funeral services were conducted at 9 o'clock this morning at St. Joseph Church by the Rev. Terence Mullikns, pastor. Burial was on the Mudd family lot in the new Catholic cemetery.
Four sisters and two brothers survive. They are: Lillian, Mrs. John D. Haffarnan, and Ethel, Mrs. Leon Cleary, Edina; Sister Mary Coaina of Elizabethtown, Ky.; Mary, Mrs. Carl Knabe, West Point, Ia.; Dan Mudd, Bell, Calif., and Joseph L. Mudd, Edina.
Miss Mudd, the second oldest of the eleven children of the late Dan H. and Catherine Spalding Mudd. was born Oct. 29, 1886, at Millwood, Mo. With her parents she came in 1900 to Edina where she lived until going to Quincy about four years ago. She clerked in her father's hardware store here for a number of years and following his death in 1929, Miss Mudd was a cashier in the old Edina Mercantile Company store here for a number of years, then caring for her mother until her death in 1939.
Besides her parents, Miss Mudd was preceded in death by a sister, Miss Catherine Mudd, who was drowned in the lake at the Baring Country Club July 27, 1930; a brother, Corporal Leonard Mudd, who died Oct. 11, 1918, in France, one of the first Knox County boys to die overseas during the first World War, and an infant brother and sister, Dan and Spalding.
