Great Bend -- Jerome R. Basgall, 76, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1993 at Great Bend Monor. He was born Nov. 28, 1916 in Bison, to John E. and Catherine (Schoenfeld) Basgall.

He married Barbara Schmidt Oct. 4, 1947 in LaCrosse. She died Jan. 8, 1991.

He was a retired oil field roustabout and a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and VFW Post 3111, both of Great Bend. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include four sons, Earl and Duane, both of Great Bend, Randy, Hays, and Mike, Mountview, Calif.; two daughters, Patty Partridge, Wichita, and Marlene Hamit, Great Bend; three brothers, John E. Jr., Sylvester and Fedale, all of LaCrosse; three sisters, Florence Keorner, Hays, Joann Schuckman, LaCrosse, and Frances Schuckman, Gorham; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services are schedule for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Church, Great Bend, with Father Aaron Peters officiating; burial with military honors by VFW Post 3111 in Hillcrest Cemetery, Great Bend. Fryberger Mortuary, Great Bend, is in charge of arrangements.

The family suggests memorials to Kansas State University Basic Cancer Research.
