He was a retired barber and a mail carrier. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays.
Survivors include his wife, Regina, of the home; four sons, Alfred of Overland Park, Ted of Hays, Tom of Salina and Darrell of Edmund, Okla.; two daughters, Bernice Herman and Lillian Basgall, both of Hays; five brothers, Fidelis, Sylvester and John, all of LaCrosse, Jerome of Great Bend and Maurice of Russell; three sisters, JoAnn Schuckman of LaCrosse, Florence Koerner of Hays and Frances Schuckman of Gorham; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral was at the church with burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.
