LaCrosse -- Sylvester Basgall, 80, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1993, in LaCrosse, from injuries suffered in a car/train accident.

He was born Sept. 2, 1913, in Loretta, to John and Catherine (Schoenfeldt) Basgall.

He married Florentine M. Urban on June 3, 1936. She died April 8, 1992.

He was a longtime area resident and was retired Santa Fe Railroad worker since 1975. He was a member of St. Michael Church.

Survivors include four sons, Edwin and Donald, LaCrosse, Leslie, Ransom, and Daryel, Topeka; two daughters, Darlene Adams, Great Bend, and Lucretia Giersch, Salina; two brothers, Fidelis and John, LaCrosse; three sisters, Florence Keorner, Hays, Joan Schuckman, LaCrosse and Frances Schuckman, Gorham; 14 grand- children and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael Church with Father Eugene Kenny officiating; burial in LaCrosse City Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the donor's choice in care of Janousek Funeral home.
