Obituary:

William Lee Pennington, 90, of Rt. 4 in Bluefield, died in a local hospital Tuesday following a long illness. He was born in Ashe County, N.C. the son of the late Abraham and Celia Haga Pennington. He had been a resident of Rt. 4 for the past 25 years and was a retired tipple foreman for Pocahontas Fuel Corp. at Rolfe, W.Va. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Pennington on Nov. 5, 1953, one daughter and two sons.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Clements and Mrs. Hazel Boone both of Rt. 4 in Bluefield; two brothers T.V. Pennington of Powtan [sic] and Gaither Pennington of Northfork; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Cravens-Shires Funeral Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. R.I. O'Dell. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluewell.

Friends may call at Cravens-Shires Wednesday between 5 and 9 p.m.
