Funeral services for Charley L. Chermak were held March 22, 1977 from the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Lowry with Rev. Gerald Giving officiating. Interment was at the Bohemian Cemetery in Lake Mary Township. Pallbearers were six grandsons, James Chermak, Paul Seemann, Maynard Trousil, Robert Trousil, Dennis Craig and Wayne Craig.
Charley L. Chermak was born April 14, 1886 in Ben Wade Township, Pope County, Lowry, Minnesota, the youngest son of Josephine Vishek and John Chermak, who were pioneers coming here from Bohemia and homesteaded the farm on which Charley was born and lived his entire life.
He passed away March 18 at the Minnewaska Hospital in Starbuck at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 4 days.
On June 12, 1911 he was united in marriage to Bessie Mary Vacek who preceded him in death April 8, 1976. To this union six children were born, three sons and three daughters who survive him. Walter and Edward of Lowry, Robert (wife Lorraine) of St. Paul, Lucille (Mrs. Leonard Craig) of Holmes City, Emily (Mrs. Albin Trousil) of Lowry, Charlotte (Mrs. Don Seemann) of Starbuck. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. His parents, three brothers and three sisters and two great grandsons preceded him in death.
