Frances Prchal was born in Reno Township February 28, 1882, the daughter of John and Josephine Chermak. She attended school and grew to womanhood in this community. On January 29, 1901 she was united in marriage to Frank J. Prchal. After their marriage, they purchased land in Lake Mary Township, which has since been her home. Mr. Prchal preceded her in death July 19, 1948. Mrs. Prchal passed away at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria February 19, 1971 at the age of 88 years.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters: Lillian (Mrs. Bennie Bisek) of Reno Township; John Prchal of Holmes City; Adolph Prchal of Lake Mary Township; Henry Prchal of Britton, South Dakota; Mrs. Christine Koudela of Alexandria; Ernest Prchal of Lake Mary; Helen (Mrs. Philemon Chan) of St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; one brother, Charles Chermak of Lowry, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held February 22, 1971 at St. John's Nepomuk Church, Lake Reno Township, Rev. Albert Pierkarski officiating. Interment was at St. John's Nepomuk Cemetery, Lake Reno Township. Pallbearers were Gerald Prchal, David Prchal, Phil Chan Jr., Dale Prchal, Patrick Chan and Frank Koudela.
