Celia Ann Cummins, daughter of Jacob and Rebecca Cummins,
She was always interested in all social and religious activity's in her vicinity as well as her home work, and family.
She was a member of The Methodist church since she was fifteen years of age.
he leaves seven children, twenty six Grandchildren, twenty four Great grand children, and one Great great granddaughter,
one sister and one brother. besides a host of other relatives
and friends to mourn her death.
The surviving children are Fannie E Ellison, Longton Kan.;
Byron W, Gray Quenemo, Kan; Mrs Flora Lamb; Longton, Roy Gray; Dunlap, Henson Gray and John Gray; Americus and Mrs Ruth Houk
Muscatine Iowa, with her passing, with her passing the family loses a very dear and devoted mother and the community a friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand in time of need.
Mr and Mrs Gray lived in Indiana the first eight years of their married life, then came to Kansas in 1881 making the trip in a covered wagon, bringing some household goods and their four children, two boys and two girls. Mr Grays brother accompanied them on his journey.
They settled north of Council Grove and made their home in the vicinity a number of years, twenty two years ago they moved to their home north of Americus which has since been their home. she was much loved by friends and neighbors, especially to the children to whom she was always Grandma Gray. She was a great lover of flowers of which she usually had an an abundance and spent many hours working among them.
The funeral services were held at the home 5 miles north of town on Sunday afternoon Feb. 14 in the presence of the sorrowing relatives and many friends.
Rev. John Endacott preached a short sermon and the music was
provided by Mrs Harriet Bruce and Mrs Mary Simons with Mrs Ora birl pianist. the burial was in the Dunlap Cemetery next to her husband who died eight years ago.
The pall bearers werer H: Walter Huston, Matthew McNabney, Andy Whitaker, Sam Weller, Henry B,and Ben Moore.
