John W Gray
John W Gray, the son of the late John W Gray and Celia Cummins was born near Dunlap Kansas June 15 1893, and passed away Dec. 26 1936 at Newman Hospital in Emporia.
He was married to Emelia Weller, Sept, 7 1922, who with a son survive him.
He is also survived By three brothers Henson, Roy of Americus, and Byron of Quenemo. three sisters Fannie Ellison of Cherryvale, Flora Lamb of Longton, and Ruth Houk of muscatine Iowa,besides a number of nieces and nephews and a host of freinds.
Mr Gray lived in the vicinity of Americus for several years
and has many friends and acquaintances in this neighborhood.
his home at the time of his death was five miled north of Americus.
He was always a good citizen, and enjoyed the respect and esteem of his neighbors and acquaintance's.
The funeral was conducted Monday afternoon from the Methodist Episcopal church and was attended by many people who joined the bereaved in mourning his departure.
The services were in charge of a former pastor, the Rev. Gene Frank of Olathe and the Rev. A.L.Day assisting.
The singers the Rev. Gene Frank and Mrs. Herbert Anderson. The Pall bearers Matthew Mc Nabney, Walter Huston, Dr. Phillip
Morgan, Henry Proel, Howard Clapp, Olman Theya, Ben Moore and E A,
Snyder interment was made in the Americus Cemetery.
