Pneumonia Fatal to George Kirby

Owosso Man Dies After Short Illness
________________

George Kirby, age 56, a resident of Owosso for the past 18 years, died in Memorial Hospital at 4 a.m. today after a short illness. Death was due to pneumonia.

The deceased had been ill only since Sunday. His is the second death due to pneumonia, of which there is a minor epidemic at present, in the past few days.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from Jennings-Lyons Chapel with the Rev. Hartley Cansfield officiating. Interment will be made in the Eureka Cemetery.

Mr. Kirby was born in Bannister May 5, 1880, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kirby. The early years of his life were spent in Bannister and he later lived in Howell. A number of years ago Mr. Kirby had lived on a farm north of Corunna, moving from there to Owosso about 18 years ago. He was employed as a laborer at various places since living here.

Survivors are three sons; Archie, Robert and Ford, all of Owosso; and two daughters Helen of Jackson, and Mrs Annabelle Ordway of Owosso.

George Kirby, son of John Kirby and Julia Sheldon, had married Beulah Elsie Bailer on July 2, 1910 in Ashley, Michigan. She was the daughter of John Bailer and Harriet (Hattie) Parcher. George and Beulah had divorced.
