Unpublished book prepared for a 1981 Family Reunion

Granny Snook was known to everyone in Sunray, Texas as "Mom Snook". She and Grandpa raised chickens and sold eggs to many of the Sunray residents. Her door was always open to company; in fact, friends rarely knocked at the door. They would just yell, "Mom, you home?" and go on in. Granny had a big heart, a rare quality not found in many people today.

She was known to many for her psychic ability and forture telling. In her last years, she hesitated to tell people their fortunes for fear of learning something unpleasant. She became so precise that she unknowingly predicted her own funeral gatherings to my mother just two weeks before she passed away.

Granny was always quite overweight, and she would sit at the end of her sofa with a kitchen chair in front of her, pasting S&H Green stamps in the book, and writing letters, which she did for hours every day. Granny had a memory like an elephant. She never had to look up an address or phone number, and on your birthday, you could count on a card and a one dollar bill.

Granny Snook was loved by all, and after all the hard times she had, she was very happy and fulfilled the day she left us. She left us all with something special.
