(1930 - 2017)

Victor N. Buretta, age 87, a Manitowoc resident, died on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Victor was born on March 27, 1930 in Manitowoc, son of the late John and Mary (Burish) Buretta. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1948 and then completed a printing apprenticeship. Victor served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On August 28, 1954 he married the former Ruth Kaminski at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He worked as a journeyman printer for the Herald Times Reporter for 24 years. Victor also worked as a deputy for the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department for 16 years in the jail division until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his son in Alaska.

Survivors include his wife: Ruth Buretta, Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law: Cheryl and Chris Meister, Key West, FL; two sons and daughters-in-law: Russell and Gail Buretta, Raleigh, NC, Gary and Sheri Buretta, Eagle River, AK; six grandchildren: Carly Meister and her fiancé Marty Zacher, Chadwick Meister, Michael Buretta, Michelle (Kevin Crenny) Buretta; Anastasia Buretta and Garrison "Bo" Buretta; two sisters: Lois Benzshawel, IA, and Adeline Matheys, DePere. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Mary Buretta; his mother-in-law: Adeline Kaminski; one grandson: Matthew Buretta; one brother and sister-in-law: Daniel and Eleanor Buretta; one sister-in-law and three brothers-in-law: Elaine and Henry Osseck, Norbert Benzshawel and Donald Matheys.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Dave Pleier. Entombment will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth.
