Alice M. Christopherson, 92, Sisseton, SD, died peacefully Saturday, April 14, 2007, at the Coteau des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, SD.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 18, at the Faith Lutheran Church in New Effington, SD, with the Rev. Harold Watrous officiating. Music was provided by organist Debra Bredvik and vocalists Allen Schram, Dean Stickland, and Bob Schultz.

Burial was in the Scandia Cemetery, rural Sisseton, SD.

Honorary pallbearers were Alice's granddaughters, Kathy Ellingson, Laurie Degenhardt, Heidi Veire, Jackie Bradshaw, Deanna Thuringer, Cindy Bosma, Dawn Flint, and Elizabeth Goodwin; and her great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were Alice's grandsons, Donald Christopherson, Ronald Christopherson, John Christopherson, Vernon Christopherson, Chris Christopherson, Terry Thuringer, and Brent Wolfe.

Alice Marie was born August 22, 1914, on a farm near Lucan, MN, to William and Marie (Rhode) Siedschlag. She was baptized at Johnsville Lutheran Church and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Seaforth, MN. She attended rural country school at Lucan, MN.

Alice married Joseph Christopherson on March 31, 1937, at Vesta, MN. In this union they had five children – three sons and two daughters. They farmed at Marietta, MN, from 1937 to 1947, then purchased a farm in Hart Township near Sisseton, SD, where they lived and raised their family for 50 memorable years. Alice moved into the Chateau Apartments in Sisseton, SD, in 1996 where she enjoyed living until her death. Joe passed away February 21, 2001.

Alice lived life to the fullest and was happiest cooking and visiting with her family, old and new friends. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed attending Ladies Aid and Circle. She was also a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #3342 of Sisseton and the American Legion Auxiliary of Sisseton. Alice enjoyed quilting, reading and word puzzles.

Survivors include two sons, Harlyn (Betty) Christopherson of Peever, SD, and Marvin (Gwen) Christopherson of New Effington, SD; two daughters, Carole (Jack) Thuringer of Sioux Falls, SD, and Doris (Verne) Wolfe of Claire City, SD; one daughter-in-law, Gail Christopherson of Ipswich, SD; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen (LaVern) Shelstad of Evans City, PA, and Goldie (Orville) Henrich of Gary, SD; one brother, Allan (Marti) Siedschlag of Alamo, TX; two sisters-in-law, Frances Siedschlag of Marietta, MN, and Lois Siedschlag of Howard Lake, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; a son, Thorphn; three brothers; and three sisters.
