Royalty. He was the eldest son of Louis XV and his wife Maria Leszcynska. He married Maria Theresa of Spain in 1745 who died a year after the marriage after giving birth to a daughter. As his second wife he married Maria Josepha of Saxony who bore him nine children including the kings Louis XVI, Louis XVIII and Charles IX. His heart was buried in St Denis.

Louis' tomb was one of the very few tombs not plundered during the French Revolution, as Sens Cathedral became a Temple of Reason very early in the Revolution.
