Avoca--Mrs Mary Nealis, 1212 Main St, widow of Thomas Nealis, died suddenly at her home last night. She had been ill a long time, but her death was unexpected. She was a member of St Mary's Church and its women's societies. Surviving are two sons, John of California and Rev Donald CP, a Navy chaplain; three daughters, Nan, a nurse in Scranton, May, a teacher in the Duryea public schools and Mrs Elizabeth Neary, employed at the First National Bank in Scranton; a brother, Donald McCarthy of Avoca; a sister, Mrs Patrick Healey of Avoca; and two grandchildren. ~Pittston (PA) Gazette, Mon 6 Aug 1945
