MRS. A.D. RICE SUCCUMBS MONDAY
Mrs. Cora Lee Hill Rice,71, wife of Andrew David Rice, well-known cabinet worker, died at her home Monday night, April 19, 1943, at 11 o'clock following a stroke and paralysis last Saturday morning.
Mrs. Rice was born July 1, 1871 in Tazewell County as her family made their trek from Ashe County, N.C. to their settling in Bramwell. She was a daughter of Felix Shelton and Nancy Ellen Dixon Hill who were pioneers of Mercer County.
Survivors include hr husband, two sons, Frank in the U.S. Army at Camp Mccoy, Wi, and Edwin of Belle, W.V.; four grandchildren, two sisters, Misses Sessie and Nora Hill and four brothers, Wylie, Jess, and Jones Hill of Bramwell and John W. Hill of Roanoke, Va. One son Elmer died last June 5, 1942.
The body was taken to the home last night from Memorial Funeral Directory Chapel and will remain there until the funeral hour, 3 o'clock this afternoon, when services will be conducted at the Kee Street Methodist Church, of which church Mrs. Rice was a member, by the pastor, the Rev. Owen E. Mercer and the Rev W.R. Smith, Jr., pastor of the Presbyterian Church.
Burial will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery.
Nephews will be pallbearers and nieces will serve as flower bearers.
