Ada Ruth Keen Byrd, age 81 of Swords Creek, VA passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023. She was born March 17, 1942 in Russell County and was the daughter of the late Archie Bascom "Speck" Keen and Ada Estelle Vance Keen. Ada loved to talk, spend time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Spiva, Alice Albert, and Lytie Slate; grandson, Daniel Tucker, II.
Survivors include five children, Linda Street (Mike), Danny Tucker, Gerald Tucker (Tracy), Kay Cornwell (Bernard), and Cindy Sexton (Chris); grandchildren, Brian Robinette (Melissa), Lindsey Perkins, Josh Tucker, Brandon Perkins (Kristin), Austin Hall, and Landon Hall; great-grandchildren, Justin Thomas, Jayden Short, Jazlyn Perkins, Tristan Tucker, and Sadie Perkins; one brother, Daniel Keen (Judy); several nieces and nephews; special friend, C.A. Smith.
The family will receive friends at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 4th at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, VA.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, June 5th in the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Dennis White officiating. Burial will follow in the Richardson Cemetery at Horton Ridge in Raven, VA. Grandsons and nephew, Jeff Slate will serve as pallbearers.
