Funeral services for Ivan Eugene "Gene" Yarnell will be Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Temple Baptist Church in Erie, Kansas with Pastor Frank Thomas officiating. Burial in East Hill Cemetery, Erie, Kansas. Visitation 7 - 8 p.m. Friday, April 11 at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler, Missouri and also prior to services from 1 - 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Temple Baptist Church in Erie, Kansas. Contributions may be made to the Temple Baptist Church. Services under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler (660-679-6555). Ivan Eugene "Gene" Yarnell, age 85 of Springdale, Arkansas, formerly of the Ballard, Missouri community died Thursday, April 10, 2008 in the Maples at Har-Ber Meadows Nursing Home in Springdale. He was born September 26, 1922 to Perry Edward and Lillie Mae Smith Yarnell in Erie, Kansas.

Gene is survived by four daughters, Pauline Yarnell Fuller and husband Perry of Elkins, Arkansas, Linda Cawthorn of Wichita, Kansas, Glenda "Jeanie" Wheeler of Chanute, Kansas and Grace Cathy and husband Tom of Wichita, Kansas; one son, Lonnie Yarnell and wife Peggy of Erie, Kansas; four sisters, Glenda Reeves of Pittsburg, Kansas and Lucy Tredway, Susie McDermed and Nona Sanders all of Erie, Kansas; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Yarnell on May 21, 2007; a son-in-law, Victor "Butch Cawthorn; a great-grandson, J. T. "Bird" Wheeler; four brothers, Vergil, Howard, Lloyd and Leon; a stillborn sister, Edna and two other sisters, Gladys Ritz and Letha Bohrer.
