ERIE - Mrs. Perry Yarnell, 69 died at 1 p.m. Friday in her home at Erie following a year’s illness. She had been critical for the past three weeks.
Lillie Mae Smith was born in Missouri on Jul 7, 1890, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith. She came with them to Kansas at the age of 15, residing near Urbana. She was married Oct 16, 1907 at Erie to Perry Yarnell, who survives. They lived in Arkansas for one year and then returned to the Erie vicinity. They moved into Erie from a farm in 1954.
In addition to her husband, survivors include six daughters, Mmes. Gladys Ritz, Glenda Reeves, Letha Bohrer, Susie McDermed, Lucy Treadway, and Nona McDermed, all of Erie; five sons, Virgil, Howard, Lloyd, and Leon of Erie and Eugene of Missouri. There are 32 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Noah Smith of Erie, and William a Smith of Parsons. A daughter Edmadora, preceded her mother in death in 1913.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Pentecostal Church of God at Erie, of which she was a member. The pastor, Rev. Dick Cullimore, will preside. Interment will be in East Hill Cemetery, directed by the Pierce Funeral Home.
