Jeannia was born in Northborough, MA, the second child of Hercule Derosiers and Eugenia Rousseau Corriveau. Her family moved to East Brookfield, MA, when she was little. She married Walter Young on Apr 19, 1920. Theirs was the first marriage after "East Brookfield attained the dignity of a town," according to an article about the wedding. Jeannia was a noted singer in the town, especially at school and civic functions. She also had a gift of hospitality and the ability to put together family celebrations. When she lived at Hermitage Nursing Home, she would make her nightly rounds with her walker to visit the "old people who don't have anybody."

Her obit notes that she was a knitting machine operator at various textile manufacturers for over twenty years before retiring in 1961. She and her husband, Walter, had two surviving children: Claire Lois Young who married Harry Fenner and Norman Young who married Rosemarie Dubee.
