Madisonville Democrat, Wednesday, August 3, 1949:
Funeral services for Mrs. Mollie P. Shaw, 45, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church, the Revs. Paul Quirk and McCoy Franklin officiating. Burial was at Center Cemetery.
Mrs. Shaw passed away Saturday night at 12:30, at Sweetwater Hospital, following three months' illness.
Surviving are her husband, Wakeman Shaw; one son, Elmo; two daughters, Darlene and Dorothy, all of Tellico Plains; her father, Mr. Floyd Phillips, of Ringgold, Ga.; six brothers, Frank Phillips of Bakersfield, Calif.; Travis of Kelso, Wash.; Leonard of Columbus, Ohio; Melvin of Akron, Ohio; Eldon of Ringgold, Ga.; and Levo Phillips of Tellico Plains; three sisters, Mrs. Ina Grant of Oak Ridge, Mrs. Lura Lee of Madisonville and Mrs. Margaret Lovin of Tellico Plains; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were James Hooper, Kirt Morris, Worth Stratton, B.W. Chumney, John Kilpatrick and Leonard Foster.
Flower girls were Pansy King, Gena Wilson, Bobbie June Lee, Francis Hooper, Gena Coe, Marcella Akins, Mary Pearson and Mary Alice Hawk.
