Samuel McConnel, son of William McConnel and Nancy Graham McConnel, was born in Wayne County, Iowa, February 11, 1860.

He married Aura Adams October 4, 1883, in Wayne County, Iowa.

In April 1885 they were counted in the Iowa State census in Benton Township, as were Samuel's parents. They migrated to Idaho sometimes after the birth of their daughter Edna in July 1890.

At the time of the 1900 census, they were counted in Boise, Ada County, and Sam listed his occupation as a carpenter. In 1910 they were also counted Boise and Sam's occupation was carpenter. At the time of 1920 census, they were counted on North 19th Street, in Boise and the household included their 14-year old Austrian-born adopted daugther, Helen. Sam died December 30, 1933, in Boise.
