Lester Jay Heckathorn, a son born to Henry Shelton Heckathorn and Cora Edith Hartman, had three sisters, Alta Fay (Allen Sales, Eytcheson Omsted), Edna Pearl (Pratt) and Golda (Baber Briggs); and two brothers, Kirch G. and Kenneth Dean. He married Ida May Weller, 6 May 1924, St. Joseph, Berrien Co., MI. They had two children, Louis Jay (died in WWII) and Ladonna May (Palmer Nicklaus).

Lester Heckathorn, May 24, 1904 - November 29, 1981 Lester J. Heckathorn, 77, of 612 Madison St. died Sunday morning, November 29, 1981 at his residence. He had been in failing health several years.
He was born May 24, 1904 in Fulton County to Henry and Clora Hartman Heckathorn and lived most of his life in this area, except one year in South Bend. He married Ida May Weller on May 6, 1924 in St. Joseph, Michigan; she died Jan. 7, 1970. He was the school crossing guard at Fourth and Main Streets for many years. He had been a Rochester Community School bus driver, a custodian at Fulton School and a farmer.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs.Tom (Ladonna) Nicklaus, Rt. 4, Rochester; two granddaughters, Rhonda Palmer, Houston, Texas and Mrs. Jeff (Rhea) Hastings, Fort Wayne; a grandson, Ronald Nicklaus, with the U.S. Army enroute to Germany; three sisters, Mrs. Hurd (Goldia) Briggs and Edna Pratt, both of Macy and Alto Omstead, Fulton; two brother; Kirch, Nyona Lake, and Kenneth, Rt. 6 Rochester; and nieces and nephews, a son Louis died in 1945.
Services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Foster and Good Funeral Home. The Rev. Teal Younce officiated. Burial was in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
