Mrs. Florence Charles is Called to Rest Here Friday
Mrs. Florence Schirke, better known in Sheboygan as Mrs. Florence Charles, age 68, died at St. Nicholas hospital Friday evening. She suffered a stroke several days ago and had been living at the home of Mrs. Lola Burke, 622
Wisconsin Ave.
She was born Feb. 8, 1872, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Knapp in Clinton, Iowa. When a small child, the family moved to the northern part of Wisconsin.
In 1888 she was married to Eugene Charles and the union was blessed with 11 children, one of whom died in infancy. She was remarried in 1925 to Edward Schirke at Wausaukee. Mr. Schirke passed away four years ago.
The surviving children are Orrin Charles, Shawano, Mrs. Oliver (Lila) Merrier and Alvin Charles, Monroe, Wash., Ira Charles of Kiel, Mrs. Lucinda Travis, Mobridge, S.Dakota, Ezra Charles, Waldo, Darwin and Stanley Charles, Plymouth,
Carl Charles of Sheboygan and Mrs. Lola Burke of Sheboygan.
Six brothers, James Knapp, Athelstane, Wis., Theodore Knapp, Faithhorn, Mich., Edwin Knapp, Kenosha, Albert Cunningham, Iron Mountain, Mich., Edson Cunningham,
Newel, Wis., and Walter Cunningham of Royal Oak, Mich., and three sisters, Mrs. Nola Beech and Mrs. Roy Swede of Lodge Grass, Mont., and Mrs. Henry Wilson, Iron Mountain, Mich., also survive in addition to 19 grandchildren.
The body was taken to the C.L. Meiselwitz Funeral Home at Kiel where friends and relatives may view it from tomorrow afternoon until the time of service, plans for which have not yet been completed.
