Family left Utah 1877 settling in Lincoln Co. New Mexico. Joseph moved to Conjoes in the 1890's and soon his parents Jacob & Eliza Jane Carpenter Harris, several of his bro.& sisters moved up and settled around Antonito. Joe and another man had been arrested over a bad cattle deal, and were going to trial. the night before someone shot Joe and the other man disappeared. The Gov. of Colorado issued a warrant for his arrest, as far as I know he was never found.
