Jacob Harris was born in Bertrand, Berrian Co. Michigan to parents John & Lovina Eiler Harris. Were early pioneers to Utah. Jacob married Eliza Jane Carpenter Aug 16, 1862 in Filmore Millard Co. UT. Were parents of 9 children. 1877 Harris family moved via The Old Spanish Trail from Sevier Co. UT to Lincoln County New Mexico, settling on the Hondo, next to the John S. Chisum Ranch. Live there until 1894. After this time lived in Conjoes Co., Farmington NM, 1910 Tyler WA where Eliza Jane died Apr.1, 1912, had move there with son Wayne D. Harris who worked for the RR. After Eliza died Jacob move to San Juan Co. NM lived with the Wm. T. & Phebe Harris Dufur family. Jacob raised cattle & horses, grew crops, 1904 Durango, sold wool which he brought up from Farmington.
