Myrtle Alvin Bice was born on 10 August 1904 in Grimes County, Texas, to Lafayette Bice Jr and Lillian Angeline Ercanbrack. Her father died when she was two years old and she was raised by her step-father, WJ Small. Myrtle married first much older Thomas Augustus Free, 21 December 1919, when she was fifteen years old, in Brazos County, Texas. Two of her sisters married his brothers. Thomas and Myrtle's children were Marie and William Thomas Free. Myrtle was widowed in 1941 when her husband and their seventeen-year-old son were killed on the Battleship Arizona when Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese during World War II. Myrtle married second businessman Irving J Waterman. Their children were William, Pearl, and Marie Waterman. Irving and Myrtle lived at 404 Tyler Street in Tomball, Texas. She was again widowed when Irving died in 1969. Myrtle Bice Free Waterman died, 25 October 1980, aged 76, in Bryan, Texas, and was buried at Zion Cemetery in Iola, Texas.
