Mrs. Hazel Johnson, age 91 of Crockett, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Aunt Hazel was born September 3, 1918, to Jess and Pearl Wells in Tadmor, Texas, and lived her life in Houston County.

Aunt Hazel was known as a Christian, a loyal friend and a lady. Mrs. Johnson owned her own beauty shop as a young woman, worked as a nurse during World War II, and was dietician for Whitehall Nursing Center. She was a member of the Church of God and had served for 50 years as secretary of the Women's Missionary Society. Her house was always open to family, as well as friends. Hundreds of "get together", parties, and "holidays shared" were always planned at Aunt Hazel's home. She sent out flowers to the sick, and for anniversaries as well as special occasion cards to everyone she knew and shared her earthly goods with all of us. She could talk on her cell phone, land phone, listen to the scanner, watch t. v., baby sit her great grandchildren all at the same time! and still carry on a conversation if you were visiting her. And we all loved it that way.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Hazel Johnson were held Sunday, November 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Taylor and the Rev. Matt Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park.

Aunt Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Dude Johnson, son Dewayne Pike, husband Nixon Pike, grandparents Dr & Mrs HL McCall, parents Jess & Pearl Wells, and brother JH Wells.
