Louetta Davis Copeland was born in Mississippi and moved to Texas at the age of 3. She married Joseph B. "Joe" Copeland on October 2, 1898. They had 6 children: Mallalieu Brownlow Copeland, James Alvis Copeland, Joe Clyde Copeland, Theresa Atrell Copeland Hardin, Sterling Wayne Copeland, and Daniel Grady "D.G." Copeland. Etta, as she was known to family and friends, managed a farm home as well as a garden, chickens and pheasants. The Copeland farm was found six miles northwest of Itasca, Texas in the Bois d'Arc community. She and her husband were cited in newspaper accounts as pioneer community residents.
