ELSIE VOIGT

Elsie Voigt, 101, formerly of Kiel, died Sunday morning Jan. 2, 2000 at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center in new Holstein where she had been a resident for the past 23 years.

The former Elsie Spettel was born May 29, 1989 in the town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Jacob and Clara Strassman Spettel. On Dec. 2, 1915 she married Walter Voigt. He died on Aug. 8, 1964. The couple farmed in the townships of Schleswig, Woodville and Chilton. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel.

Survivors include one son, Jack (Dorothy) Voigt of Potter, and one daughter, Ellen (Clarence) Luchterhand of Middleton; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and one sister, Lendoris (William Jr.) Buchholz of Kiel. She was preceded in death by six sisters, Estella, Viola, Lulu, Cela, Verna and Clara.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at St. Peter UCC in Kiel with the Rev. Raymond C. Coombs, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Schleswig Cemetery in Rockville.
