LenDoris L. Buchholz, age 88, a resident of Willowpark Residence, formerly of E. Chicago Street, Kiel died Monday, April 23, 2012. LenDoris Spettel was born August 21, 1923, daughter of the late Jacob & Clara (Strassman) Spettel.

She attended school in the town of Russell and graduated from 8th grade at Elder Grove School in the town of Eaton.

On December 28, 1940, she was married to William Buchholz Jr. by Rev. E. L. Worthman at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel. William preceded her in death on June 1, 2008.

LenDoris was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ for 72 years.

LenDoris was a housewife. She raised five boys and helped farm at the Buchholz family farm for 53 years. She enjoyed word search, rummy, rides between the lakes, embroidery, a trip to Europe and baking thousands of cookies for her bottomless cookie jar. You could always find a Packer party at their house during football season. Len & Bill retired and moved to Kiel in 1993.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Peggy Buchholz, Kiel; sons, Douglas (Virginia) Buchholz, Cleveland, David Buchholz, Sheboygan, James (Kathy) Buchholz, Plymouth, and Brian (Cindie) Buchholz, Apex, NC; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Hildegard Wieting, Kiel. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Richard Buchholz; one great-grandson, Dereck McMunn; and seven sisters, Stella (John) Ibe, Elsie (Walter) Voight, Cecelia (Ferdinand) Schneider, Lulu (Hilbert) Mueller, Verna (Roland) Beckman, Clara Spettel and Viola (George) Vogel.

Funeral services for LenDoris will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, April 27, 2012 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel, with Rev. Judine Duerwaechter officiating. Burial will take place in Schleswig Cemetery, Town of Schleswig (Rockville).
