STEINMETZ, Floyd Gorsuch, 39, life insurance manager, WW II veteran,shot himself at his home in Hollywood, Florida on the 1st of February, 1958. He was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, 20 September, 1918, the son of Clinton Alva & Gertrude Jeanette (Gorsuch) Steinmetz. Floyd is buried in Hopewell Cemetery, Knox County, Ohio. ~ TJD2013

~ MOUNT VERNON NEWS ~ Monday, 3 February, 1958 - FLOYD STEINMETZ ENDS LIFE AT HOME - Floyd Steinmetz, 39, formerly of Mount Vernon and son of Clinton Steinmetz of Hopewell Rd., committed suicide Saturday afternoon in his home in Hollywood, Fla., by firing a 22 calibre rifle bullet into his right temple. Steinmetz, a World War II veteran and a member of the Hopewell Methodist church, suffered a nervous breakdown a month ago. His wife, Jean, found the body on her return from an errand. For the last nine years Steinmetz was the district manager for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Besides his wife and father, he is survived by two daughters, (omitted) and (omitted); a son, (omitted); three sisters, Mrs. Marie Wheaton and Ila Butcher of Mount Vernon and Mrs. Helen Patterson of Gambier, and four brothers, Lawrence and Robert of Mount Vernon, Dale of Ardmore, Pa., and Richard of Columbus. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., in the Dowds Funeral Home with the Rev. G.E. Chalfant officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
