~ MOUNT VERNON NEWS ~ Saturday, 23 April, 1960 - Clinton A. Steinmetz, 83, a retired Pleasant Township farmer and resident of Hopewell Rd., died Friday evening at Mercy Hospital. He was ill for only one day following a stroke. Mr. Steinmetz was a life-long resident of Knox County and a member of Hopewell Methodist Church and Pleasant Grange. He served as clerk of Pleasant Township Trustees for 39 years. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Marie Wheaton and Mrs. Ila Butcher of Mount Vernon and Mrs. Helen Paterson of Gambier; four sons, Lawrence and Robert of Mount Vernon, Dale of Ardmore, Pa., and Richard of Columbus; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dowds Funeral Home were the funeral will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Phillip Hanni will officiate, and the burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Retyped TJD2013
