Augusta was the youngest of thirteen children born to Wilhelm Eschmann and Frederica Greve and she was the only one who was born in the United States. Augusta never married and she was a seamstress by trade. For most of her life she lived with her sister Julia Eschmann Stein, who died in 1913. After her death she lived with Julia's son, Luther, and his family. Augusta died of chronic hepatitis at the age of 81. She and Julia are buried next to each other.
