Obituary - Robinson, IL newspaper, July 11, 1960
Albert C. Oxley, 70, died Monday evening at his home at 203 W. Sycamore St., Robinson. Mr. Oxley, who had been in poor health for several months, was a retired foreman in the production department of the Ohio Oil Company.
He is survived by his wife, Goldie; two sons, Cecil and Charles both of Robinson; two daughters, Mrs. Darwin (Madeline) York of Hardinville and Mrs. Damon (Irene) Voght of Huntington, Ind; five grandchildren. Three brothers, Fred and Paul, both of Warren, Ind., and Leonard of Berea, Ohio; and four sisters, Mrs. Dora Custard of Detroit, Mich, Mrs. Margaret Alexander of Liberty Center, Ind., and Mrs. Ida Herring and Mrs. Ocie Roberts, both of Warren, Ind.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday in the chapel of the Buchanan Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Swanson officiating. Interment will be in New Robinson Cemetery. Friends may call at the Buchanan Funeral Home.
Albert Clayton Oxley, son of Charles Edgar and Lorinda M. Bole Oxley, was born November 8, 1889 near Van Buren, Indiana and departed this life July 11, 1960 at his home in Robinson, Illinois after a lingering illness, at the age of 70 years, eight months and three days.
On October 9, 1912, he was united in marriage to Goldie Fern Jackson. To this union were born four children. He is survived by his companion and children, Cecil and Charles of Robinson, Irene Voght of Huntington, Indiana and Madeline York of Hardinville. Also, two sons-in-law and two daughters-in-law, five grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Alexander, Mrs. Osa Roberts, Mrs. Ida Herring of Warren, Indiana; Mrs. Dora Custard of Detroit, Michigan; three brothers, Fred and Paul of Warren, Indiana and Leonard of Berea, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He came to Illinois March 1913 and worked for the Ohio Oil Co. until his retirement January 1, 1954. He took an early retirement on account of his health after 41 years of service. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Robinson and a member of Eaton Masonic Lodge No. 666.
