Henry was the son of John Jacob Boon and his wife, Anna Henriette Graftema. Both John and Anna were born in Holland. Their son, Henry was born in Seafield, White County, Indiana on March 28, 1872.

On October 15, 1898, Henry married Etha Mae Easterday. The wedding took place in White County, Indiana. Henry and Etha had 12 children: William, Anna, dorothea (Dorothy), John, Martha Ann, Francis J, Edward A, Margaret, Mary, Henry and Helen. One other child was born, but probably died young.
Henry passed away on July 31, 1928 and was buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
