David was a son of William Arnold and Caroline Anne Haden. He was living in the household of Christopher Hartman of Milnersville in June of 1860 and was listed as a farmhand. His future wife, Delilah Decker, was listed as a housemaid in that same place and he married her in September of that year. It was she with whom he had a daughter, Retta, four years before they decided to get married. His other children included Annie, Ida (Moore), Mary, Chris, David, Ross, and Margaret. David was a farmer in Guernsey Co., and later in his life, near Freeport. He retired to Smyrna, living with Rettie, Annie, and Mary for the last fifteen years of his life, and where he died.
