AUGUST E TAMM

August E. Tamm died at his home in this city on Wednesday, July 16th. He was one of the prominent citizens of this section, having formerly owned a fine farm in the town of Brillion but retiring in 1918 and taking up his residence in our city where he won the respect and esteem of all.

The deceased was born in Germany in 1855 and in 1856 his parents immigrated to America settling in Waukesha. In 1862 the family moved on the Tamm homestead in the town of Brillion which has remained in the family ever since, being now owned by one of the sons of the deceased, Alfred Tamm.

In 1880 Mr. Tamm was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Westphal, who now survives him. Other surviving members of the family are four sons, Alfred on the homestead farm, Edward of Kiel, Frank and Wesley, both town of Brillion farmers. There are also three brothers, John of this city, and William and Frank of the town of Brillion and one sister, Mrs. William Kloen of the town of Brillion.

Decedent was a member of the M. E. Congregation. During his residence in the town of Brillion he took a keen and intelligent interest in public affairs and held many offices of public trust, discharging the duties with care and integrity. He served several years as town supervisor and was then elected as a member of the county board of supervisors. In addition he was interested in promoting education and served for many years a treasurer of the school board. When he took up his residence in he continued his interest in public affairs and was always present at school meetings and other gatherings of a community nature.

The funeral will take place tomorrow and services will be conducted at the M. E. Church with Rev. J. J. Moor officiating.
