------------
One death, two quite seriously hurt, many minor injuries and a half dozen or more wrecked and damaged cars was the toll of weekend accidents, attributable to many causes. Otto Leider, Liberty farmer is dead, due to loss of blood following an accidental gunshot wound that tore away his right knee.—Joseph Nemetz, Clark street has a number of more or less serious gunshot wounds as result of the accidental discharge of a gun in the hands of a hunting companion, wliile Gabriel Gallagher had an arm broken and Roy Rost lost his teeth in automobile accidents. The other accidents resulted in more or less damage to the cars involved but without injury to drivers or occupants.
Hunting Trip Fatal
Otto Leider with two companions, Emil Selle and Edwin Lutzke, was hunting rabbits in the Arthur Tills grove near Talhammer's corners. The first warning of an accident came in a cry for help from Leider and when Selle and Lutzke reached the scene they found the man across a stump with a gunshot wound at the right knee. He was bleeding badly and the two carried him to the Lutzke car and rushed him to the hospital in this city. Dr. Shaw, who was called found that the ligaments and bone in the right knee had been shot away by the charge from the gun which must have occurred at close range as paper wadding was found in the knee. The loss of blood has been great, so great in fact that little hope was held out for the victim's life. He made a brave battle but the end came at 6:45 this moniing. Neither Lutzke nor Selle could explain what happened and Leider was not able to tell but it is believed his gun fell and was accidently set off.
Born in this county, January 1, 1892; Otto Leider was thirty-five years old and had always made the county his home. He was married sixteen years ago to Augusta Selle and is survived by his widow. three children, Arline, Minnie and Eldora, his mother, Mrs. Augusta Leider. six brothers, Edwin and Adolph of this city, Herman and Charles of Birnwood, Eddie and Paul of Liberty and by six sisters, Mrs. Ernst Schmidt and Mrs. Herman Jenz of this city, Mrs. Fred Schmidt and Mrs. August Lenz of Liberty, Mrs. Wllliam Koeppen of Post Lake and Mrs. Frank Rebeck of Two Rivers. He was not a member of any fraternal organizations.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon from the home, the Rev. Paul Hensel officiating and burial will be at the Liberty cemetery.
Has Narrow Escape
His face, chest and erms punetured by a number of shots from the accidental discharge of a gun, in the hands of a hunting companion, Joseph Nemetz, 1516 Clark street, has a chance for complete recovery unless complications set in. With Ex-Mayor Martin Georgenson and ..........
