Richard Ora Nichols, 47, of 3762 Pleasant Ave., North Moreland, a retired foreman for the Norfolk & Western Railway, suffered a fatal heart attack at his home at 6 p.m. Sunday.
A native of Greenup County, he was born March 15, 1909.
Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife, Ruby; a daughter, Thelma in New Jersey; a son, Earl Eugene in Italy; three sisters, Mrs. Wilson Frye of New Boston; Mrs. Zelma Boggs of South Shore and Mrs. John Abdon of Portsmouth; five brothers, James of West Portsmouth, Robert of Baltimore, Md., and Earl, Orville and William, all of Portsmouth; and two grandchildren.
His parents, a sister and a brother are deceased.

A.C. Sowards Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements which are pending the arrival of the son from Italy.
