Mr. Bade was associated with the Plymouth Furniture Mfg. Co., and later was president of the Plymouth Factory Furniture Store, a retail furniture outlet. He retired in 1957. He was active in community and church affairs and was a staunch supporter of Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility since its inception, supporting it financially. He served on the Plymouth School Board in the 1920's, served on the Plymouth Utility Commission, acting as its secretary for several terms, was an active supporter of Boy Scouting in the community and was instrumental in organizing the Plymouth School Safety Patrol in 1933. He was a charter member and past president of the Plymouth Kiwanis Club. He had been a director of the Plymouth Mutual Fire Insurance Co. and was presently serving as its president.
He was born August 30, 1884 in Plymouth, a son of the late Henry C. and Anna Kroos Bade. He attended Plymouth Schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1902. Mr. Bade was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Plymouth, and served actively on various church boards and committees. He organized the first city basketball team and was a 50-year member of the Plymouth Fire Department. Mr. Bade was instrumental in founding the Cleveland Container Co. in Plymouth, now Clevepack, Inc. He was also a charter member of the 1976 bicentennial committee.
He married Athilda Lorfeld. She died on Sept. 13, 1934. On Nov. 26, 1936 he married Adrienne Vadnais in Plymouth. She died March 22, 1971. He married Elsie Van Ells on December 21, 1972.
Survivors are two sons, Warren A of Houston, Tex., and William E of Portland, Ore.; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers, Walter and Elwood, both of Plymouth, and a sister, Mrs. Nelda Griese of Plymouth. A brother and a sister preceded him in death.
