Art Berrens, of 723 Diane St., Chilton, died on Monday, Sept 8, at his home.
He was born on June 8, 1925 in Chilton, son of the late Edward and Lena (Scherer) Berrens.
He married Mary Zorn on Nov. 5, 1949 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Chilton. Art served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He and his wife owned and operated the Berrens Bakery in Chilton for many years until retiring in 1986. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, American Legion Post #125 of Chilton where he had served as past commander, VFW Post #3153, where he was serving as present commander, Chilton Eagles Club #1288 of Chilton, and he had served as alderman on the Chilton City Council.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, three daughters, Linda (Bruce) Sweetman of Howards Grove, Louise (Dan) Kastelic of Sheboygan, Lori (Fred) Brocker of Chilton; a son-in-law, Paul Roberts of Chilton; two granddaughters, Jessica Robert and Leah Sweetman; three step-grandchildren; two sisters, Gert Melchoirs of Appleton, Catherine (Bill) Forstner of Chilton; three brothers, Pat Berrens of Chilton, Gene (Deloris) Berrens of Chilton, and Robert Berrens of Manitowoc. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Claude and Victor Berrens.
Funeral services will be at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Chilton, with the Rev. Gary New SDS as officiant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
