My brother Dale had a relationship with Rosella and a daughter. He served our county and the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and while he was very proud of his military background. It not only changed the coarse of his life but him as well. He married his first wife Huberta in 1977 and moved away to North and South Dakota. There they had a son and with him being a truck driver it costed him his marriage as she asked him to leave and then filed for a divorce and obtained full custody of their son in whom she never allowed visitation with. He continued to drive cross country and did come home from time to time but he never really settled down. Being a truck driver is what made him the happiest throughout his work experience. Then one day he met someone with basically the same back ground as he. She served the Navy and was a truck driver like himself. By 1997 he asked Gerry to marry him. They then drove cross country together for awhile and settled down when force to in Houma. They would stop in any time they traveled through NC for a visit. Right after our last visit, He was on a short run when going through Texas in 2002 or 2003 when a tornado picked up his rig and slammed it into the ground causing severe injuries and ending his truck driving days. He and his wife both stopped driving the trucks and settled down for the long haul. He had a few up coming operations and as a result they moved to New Orleans They were residing in ward 9 when Katrina hit. Luckily they were able to leave the area at the last minute but no time to gather belongings. They tried to head my way and was turned back and had to head toward Houma. They made it there. to safety. After everything was lost in the storm and the hospital unable to perform the surgeries he needed he was transferred to a hospital in Joilet, Illinois. They both had a trying time as they lost all they had. Luckily he managed to find a cousin of ours Wayne Knight, who helped them restart their lives already in Illnois. It took about a year and a half to complete all of his surgeries and they returned home to settle down in Pineville, Louisiana. While he was living their his son made contact with him after locating me and I contacted him to tell him. He wanted to see his son and got up with him. The boy moved in with his father but he had other ideas stemming from a history of crime that we didn't know of. He took advantage of his father and it broke his heart. Gerry of coarse insisted he was to leave and it just never got better for him. Health wise he went down hill quickly, There was no time to get their to be at his side by the time I knew about it. He was buried with full military honors just as he wanted.

FARGO - A Moorhead man is in jail on suspicion that he printed fake payroll checks at home and cashed them at Cash Wise grocery stores in Fargo and Moorhead.

Jason Dale Crochet, 33, was charged Thursday in Clay County District Court with two counts of check forgery. Both are felonies.

Crochet was able to get away with $15,000 before Cash Wise wised up to his trick, said Lt. Brad Penas of the Moorhead Police Department. So far, the grocery store is the only victim police know of, he said.

The store alerted police, who investigated and determined that Crochet was the likely culprit, Penas said. On Tuesday, officers arrested Crochet at his home and, with a search warrant, discovered evidence indicating he printed the fake checks, Penas said.

Court records show Crochet has a criminal record in Minnesota and North Dakota that includes several convictions for credit card fraud, forgery and theft, mostly in Clay and Cass counties.
