YORK Harry Spangler, 71, of Springettsbury Township, died at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Bessie A. (Sweitzer) Spangler.

The service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Springettsbury Township, with Military Rites by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Viewing will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Spangler was born on Aug. 6, 1922, in York. He was the son of the late Charles and Gertrude (Schriver) Spangler.

He was a U.S. veteran of World War II, having served with the 610th Army Air Force Base unit. A carpenter, he was employed 25 years by R.S. Noonan Inc. and the Carpenters Local Union 191, from which he retired.

He was a member of American Legion Pleasureville Post 799, and of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Mount Wolf Post 2493.

Mr. Spangler also is survived by a son, James H. Spangler of York; two daughters, Beverly A. Wagner and Lisa J. Lohss of York; three grandchildren; two brothers, George Spangler and Warren Spangler, both of York; and six sisters, Catherine Anderson, Grace Thoman, Elizabeth Hamme, Stella Hamme and Geraldine Metzel, all of York, and Delores Miller of Cumberland, Md.

Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Richard L. Bowers, pastor of Trinity-Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church.
