Dolores R (Spangler) Miller "Fritz", age 88, passed away peacefully in Cumberland MD on October 29, 2022, surrounded by her children. Born April 8, 1934, in York, PA. Dolores was the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude Spangler. She was also preceded in death by her husband Donald F Miller, and two sons Daniel Miller and Stephen Miller. She was the youngest baby sister and the last of 14 children. She is survived by her remaining five children, Michael Miller (Mary Kevin), Debbie Miller Lightfoot, Donna Miller Reddington (Terry), Judy Miller Nesbitt (Dave) and Donald Miller (Gina). She was the proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous Spangler nieces and nephews in the York area as well as a niece, Melissa Miller Sutovich of Allentown PA. Dolores lived in several cities in her 88 years, but in her heart York PA and Cumberland MD were the places she called home. She was a lifetime member of the Cumberland Country Club, Sport Club, Garden Club and her passion for bridge with her best friend of 20 years Doris Giornesto was only surpassed by her love of playing 500 bid with her family and neighbor Rena Christopher. Dolores was witty, generous, and loved her children mightily with great pride. They were the light and joy of all her days. Dolores loved sitting on her front porch for hours at a time enjoying her many flowers and hanging ferns. Her mantra was "Come sit on the porch with me the drinks are cold, and the friendship is free." The extended joy of the porch was made possible by her wonderful neighbors Rena and Dave Christopher who were both quick to jump in to help Dolores at a moment's notice. The peace of mind Rena and Dave gave the Miller family by being such loving and wonderful people is appreciated beyond measure. Betty Lear also helped Dolores for 17 years so she could stay in the home she loved in the mountains of Cumberland. Visitation is Friday, November 4th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland MD. Private burial and gravesite services at 12:00 PM Saturday November 5, Mount Zion Cemetery in York PA. In lieu of flowers, the Miller family requests donations in honor of Dolores' memory to a charity you hold close to your heart. The Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 East Market Street, York is assisting with local arrangements. www.etzweilerfuneralhome.com
