She was the wife of Victor L. Hamme. Mr. and Mrs. Hamme observed their 67th wedding anniversary on June 8, 2006.
Born February 9, 1921, in Spring Garden Township, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Gertie May (Schriver) Spangler.
Elizabeth loved her husband and family and devoted her life to them. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of York, and a former longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the choir, and several church societies. Elizabeth was a charter member of the original Memorial Hospital Guild.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Victor R. Hamme of York, and Robert K. and his wife, Jennifer Hamme of Williston, Vt.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Delores Miller of Maryland, Stella Hamme of York, and Geraldine Metzel of York.
She was preceded in death by her son, Victor's wife, Linda; one greatgrandson; six brothers, and three sisters. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2006, at Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, with her pastor, the Rev. Deborah Volker, officiating.
Burial will be held in Mount Zion Cemetery. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church of York, 150 Jefferson Ave., York, PA 17404; or to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17110.
