Funeral services for August E. Magnuson were held Nov. 24 at the Anderson Funeral Home, Rev. Olaf Nelson officiated. Pallbearers were Albert Bylund, Ollie Gustafson, Peter Johnson, Edward Johnson, Axel Nelson and Norman Seppanen. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
August Einar Magnuson was born Aug. 1, 1892, the son of Alfred and Susanna Magnuson, on the Magnuson farm in LaGrand township. Here he attended the Douglas county schools and grew to manhood. Shortly after World War I he and three of his brothers, John, Albert and Julius, came to Alexandria and engaged in the garage business. They erected the Magnuson building on Lincoln avenue. After the death of his father in 1927 he returned to the farm and has made his residence there for the past 25 years, with the exception of the past six years when he has made his home with his sister and brother-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Michaelson, of Alexandria.
He had been in failing health for some time and passed away early Nov. 21, at Our Lady of Mercy hospital in Alexandria at the age of 60 years, three months and 20 days. Surviving are two brothers, Albert and Julius, of Alexandria and two sisters, (Nina) Mrs. Herman Michaelson of Alexandria and (Esther) Mrs. Harlan Campbell of Alexandria.
