Mrs. Fitzgerald was a native of Texas and for many years a resident of Gonzales. She lived most of her life here, and her children lived here the early part of their lives. The family moved to San Antonio some thirty years ago to make their home. Mrs. Fritzgerald was well known in Gonzales, and was a sister to the late L. M. Kokernot of Gonzales and John W. Kokernot of San Antonio. She was an aunt to Mrs. B. N. Peck, Fred Kokernot, and Mrs. John Hamon, all of Gonzales, and Herbert Kokernot of San Antonio and W. H. Kokernot of Alpine.
Besides a host of friends in San Antonio and in this section, Mrs. Fitzgerald leaves to mourn her passing a daughter, Mrs. C. E. McMonagle of San Antonio; a sister Mrs. Rebecca Kendall, of McAllen, a son, S. M. Fitzgerald of Houston, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Her husband, the late Milam M. Fitzgerald, preceded her in death several years ago. Mrs. Fitzgerald was a member of a prominent pioneer Gonzales family, being a daughter of the late Captain David Kokernot, who came to Gonzales before the days of the Republic, and who fought in the Texas revolution.
