The book "Historic Homes of Gonzales" (Gonzales County, TX) by Paul Frenzel, states that Levi Moses Kokernot was born in the town of Stockmon, (Parish not disclosed) Louisiana. And has his DOB as June 6, 1836.

Barbara Jo Brothers says that Levi is her great grandfather and that he was born in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Large scale cattle rancher in Gonzales County.

On Wednesday Mr. G. Stoig, the Victoria marble man, passed through Cuero with two heavy wagons, loaded with over $1,000 worth of monumental work for Mr. L. M. Kokernot, of Gonzales county. The work in intended for the graves of Mr. Kokernot's wife, son and Mrs. Karnes. A handsome iron fence was also part of the load.
